Antique Swedish Gustavian Style Marble Top Commode

An antique Swedish Gustavian style marble top commode. This turn of the last century commode has a colorful top of variegated Breccia marble with a coved edge; with the intricately inlaid and crossbanded front of the commode having a central design of a bow and ribbons around a garland of laurel. The drawers each having gilt bronze ring pulls, the upper drawer with a gilt bronze escutcheon, and the two corners of the chest with gilt bronze mounts of acanthus, bell flowers and quatrefoils all under a border of ovals; with the center of the apron mounted with a stylized gilt bronze bow and laurel garland; with the case resting upon four tapering cylindrical legs with gilt bronze rings at the top of the legs and gilt bronze cups at the feet.
