A plaster painting on board titled Rome – The Colosseum by well-listed French artist Jacques Lamy (1946-2016). This work features an abstracted view of Rome’s Colosseum with a rough texture throughout the surface of the composition. The painting is signed to the lower right and to the verso. Also present to the verso are a Certificate of Authenticity, a descriptive label, and the handwritten title. Handwriting to the frame verso reads ‘McCoy/English 7-29-02’. The composition is presented in an ornate gilt wood frame with laurel leaf molding and a canvas liner.
Jacques Lamy was born in France near the Loire Valley in 1946. He received his formal artist training at Ecole Nationale Superieur des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. Lamy worked as an artist, designer, and art teacher allowing him to travel to Spain, Africa, and the United States. His work is housed in institutions such as the Musee D’Art Roger in Quillot, France and the Jesuit Art Museum in Dallas, Texas.
