A plaster painting on wood board titled San Marco Church by well-listed French artist Jacques Lamy (1946-2016). Rendered with a rough texture throughout the surface of the composition, this work features a simplified depiction of the facade of St. Mark’s Basilica with people walking and riding bikes across the foreground. The painting is signed to the lower right and to the verso. Also present to the verso are a Certificate of Authenticity, a descriptive label, and the handwritten title. The composition is presented in a gilt wood frame.
Jacques Lamy was born in France near the Loire Valley in 1946. He received his formal artist training at Ecole Nationale Superieur des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. Lamy worked as an artist, designer, and art teacher allowing him to travel to Spain, Africa, and the United States. His work is housed in institutions such as the Musee D’Art Roger in Quillot, France and the Jesuit Art Museum in Dallas, Texas.
