A plaster painting on burlap titled San Mark’s Square by listed French artist Jacques Lamy (1946-2016). Portrayed with thick brushstrokes and an overall simplified depiction, this work features a the corner facade of a Venetian building in St. Mark’s Square, Venice. The work is signed to the lower right. A Certificate of Authenticity, the artist’s estate stamp, and the handwritten title are present to the verso. The composition remains unframed.
Jacques Lamy was born in France near the Loire Valley in 1946. He received his formal artist training at Ecole Nationale Superieur des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. Lamy worked as an artist, designer and art teacher allowing him to travel to Spain, Africa, and the United States. His work is housed in instructions such as Musee D’Art Roger Quillot, France and the Jesuit Art Museum in Dallas, Texas.
