An acrylic painting on textured board titled San Mark’s Square by Jacques Lamy (France; 1946-2016). The work depicts stylized architecture believed to to be St Mark’s Square in Venice, Italy featuring vibrant blue and green tones with a granular texture. Signed to the bottom right in paint. A gallery label is also attached to the verso with the artist name and title of the work. There are also additional marks and notes written in marker to the verso.Presented in an ornate wooden frame with a decorative canvas insert without glass.
Jacques Lamy was born in France near the Loire Valley in 1946. He received his formal artist training at Ecole Nationale Superieur des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. Lamy worked as an artist, designer, and art teacher allowing him to travel to Spain, Africa, and the United States. His work is housed in institutions such as the Musee D’Art Roger in Quillot, France and the Jesuit Art Museum in Dallas, Texas.
