A mixed media composition on board of a still-life of roses by listed, French artist Jacques Lamy (1946-2016). This work features a still-life of a small potted rose bush rendered with fabric and acrylic paint mounted to board. It is signed in paint to the lower right corner and to a gallery label attached to the verso. This work is presented in a painted wood frame without glass; fitted with hanging wire to the verso.
Jacques Lamy was born in France near the Loire Valley in 1946. He received his formal artist training at Ecole Nationale Superieur des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. Lamy worked as an artist, designer, and art teacher allowing him to travel to Spain, Africa, and the United States. His work is housed in institutions such as the Musee D’Art Roger in Quillot, France and the Jesuit Art Museum in Dallas, Texas.
