Kokopelli Native American Pottery Vase

A Native American pottery vase. The piece was made by a Navajo artisan as indicated by the marking present to the underside of the piece. The vase has a flared rim with wide shoulders and a tapered form. It is decorated with Kokopelli, a trickster and mythical fertility deity in Hopi and Zuni culture. It features an intricately carved feather and geometric pattern in a sgraffito technique through white, orange and green slips, with a panel of Kokopelli on the front.
