A wooden box with a bird design painted by Jacques Lamy (France; 1946-2016). The work depicts brightly painted birds and floral designs covering a wooden box. Signed to the base of the work in paint. Presented freestanding.
Jacques Lamy was born in France near the Loire Valley in 1946. He received his formal artist training at Ecole Nationale Superieur des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. Lamy worked as an artist, designer, and art teacher allowing him to travel to Spain, Africa, and the United States. His work is housed in institutions such as the Musee D’Art Roger in Quillot, France and the Jesuit Art Museum in Dallas, Texas.
Condition
- some wear around the edges of the box; large crack in paint inside lid; metal fixtures are loose; some smudges and paint marks to the base.
