A wooden box with a star design painted by Jacques Lamy (France; 1946-2016). The work depicts a star pattern with organic shapes in bold primary colors on a yellow wooden box. Signed to the base of the work in paint. Presented freestanding.
Jacques Lamy was born in France near the Loire Valley in 1946. He received his formal artist training at Ecole Nationale Superieur des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. Lamy worked as an artist, designer, and art teacher allowing him to travel to Spain, Africa, and the United States. His work is housed in institutions such as the Musee D’Art Roger in Quillot, France and the Jesuit Art Museum in Dallas, Texas.
Condition
- some wear around the edges of the box; some chipping to the paint throughout the work; scratches tot he surface of the box; large scratch to the lid of the work; inside of box could benefit from a cleaning due to staining; wooden lip is loose.
