A hand-knotted signed vintage Persian Mashhad area rug. The wool rug features a floral motif in palette of red, navy and cream. It has a round center medallion over a red lozenge, surrounded by large palmette and lancet leaf patterns in scarlet, orange, pink, bright and indigo blues, and shades of brown. The spandrels are grounded in indigo, and it has a wide primary border of bracketed palmettes with contrasting white guard borders having a boteh and floral theme in the field colors. It has overcast selvedges, cotton warp fringe, and is unmarked.
