A 1954 Topps baseball card for Jackie Robinson. Robinson became the first African American baseball player signed to Major League Baseball in the modern era when the Brooklyn Dodgers signed him to play second base in 1947; he was later inducted to the Hall of Fame on his first ballot in 1962. The card obverse depicts Robinson as an outfielder in 1954, against a yellow background with the Dodgers logo and his reproduced autograph across the bottom. The reverse shows a mini-bio, stat lines, and ‘Inside Baseball’ cartoons. The card is housed in a protective plastic sleeve.
