A late 19th to early 20th century color lithograph print on paper after architectural designs by French artist Pierre Chabat (1827-1892). The piece originates as plate XVI from Manuel de Peintures and depicts elaborate column and curtain designs in a palette of muted yellow, brown, pink and olive hues. The print is titled ‘Decoration’ in plate to the lower center, with additional in-plate notations of ‘P. Chabat Dirext’ and ‘XXIIIe Annee’ to the outer margins. It is matted in off-white and presented under glass in a wooden frame fitted with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- toning to paper and matting; wear with cracks, chips and scratching to frame.
