A pair of still life paintings in the American Folk Style. The largest piece is an oil painting on canvas board, created circa 1840-50s. The painting features two slices of seeded watermelon on a white dish against a dark background in a wooden period frame. The smallest artwork is an acrylic painting on board. The painting depicts an artichoke lying on two cloth napkins against a cream and pink background. It is housed in an ornate, whitewashed wooden frame. Both paintings are unsigned.
Condition
- largest artwork has some crazing throughout center dish and in-painting repairs to the upper right portion of the painting; some chipping and distress to the frame; lower right corner of frame is uneven.
- some residue spotting on the smallest painting; wormholes and some chipping throughout the frame.
