Hand-Knotted Nepalese "Regal" Silk and Wool Area Rug

A Regal wool and silk area rug from Nepal. This rug is hand-knotted in a palette of navy blue and shades of camel. It features a neoclassical lattice design of large-scale palmettes and garlands of acanthus over a field of navy-on-navy vertical stripes. Amid the larger elements are four vertical rows of lily motifs. Horizontal panels, one at the top and one at the bottom of the field, feature meandering acanthus over navy. Edges are overcast on all sides. The rug is labeled on the reverse.
