Two Watercolor Paintings on Paper of Landscapes at Dusk
Item Details
A set of two landscape paintings on paper. Featured is a watercolor and gouache painting depicting an abstract river landscape bordered by trees and vegetation, rendered in muted hues of yellow, green, brown and cream. The work is signed in paint to the lower right with a signature that appears to read ‘J. Seagle’; however, no clear artist attribution could be made. It is double-matted in green and off-white and presented under glass in a green wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso. Also featured is a watercolor painting depicting a Bavarian landscape with a bridge and glassy river set against a quaint village and twilight skies. The work is signed illegibly and noted with ‘München’ in black ink to the lower left. It is set under white French matting and presented under glass in a silver tone wooden frame with scrolled and floral gesso embellishments to the front and hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- chips, scratches, cracks and wear to both frames, more significantly to silver tone frame; tears to backing paper of silver tone frame; some toning to paper and matting.
