A pair of restrike Japanese woodblock prints on paper after Takahashi Shōtei’s (1871-1945) Rain at Sumida River and Rickshaw in Morning Mist. This carefully-rendered works depict a figure pulling a woman in a rickshaw against a crowded street and a yellowish sky, and a figure watching boats on a river, protected from falling rain by a thickly-thatched roof. There are signature seals and lines of calligraphic text to the lower margins of both prints, and they are mounted behind glass in slim frames with hanging hardware to their versos.

Condition

- glass could be cleaned more thoroughly; glue residue on glass of one; worn frame finishes; tape residue along edges of one; torn paper backing.
