Bwa Hand Painted Carved Wood Plank Mask

Item Details

A hand painted carved wood plank mask called a Nwantantay, from the Bwa People of Burkina Faso and Mali. This piece features geometric designs carved into a tall narrow plank, with a fork at the top and protrusions toward the lower edge. One side is painted in color and the reverse side is painted in black and white. There are no apparent maker’s marks.
