M. & N. Hanhart Chromolithograph After Alken "What Drunk Again You Lazy Beggar"

A late 19th-century M. & N. Hanhart chromolithograph print on paper after a work by Henry Alken. The piece, titled What Drunk Again You Lazy Old Beggar!, depicts a genre scene with riders in a coach waiting as a gentleman attends to a drunken man sitting in a nearby hayloft. The work is titled in plate to the lower center, with additional printed notations to the lower margins of ‘H. Alken Pinxt’ and ‘M & N Hanhart Imp’. It is matted in cream and presented under glass in a black and gold tone wooden frame fitted with hanging twine to the verso.
Condition
- to Fair; toning, foxing and acid burns present to print and matting; residue present under glass; surface wear with scratching and small nicks to frame.
