A hand-knotted Persian Qum area rug. The rug features a central medallion in dark blue, light blue, taupe, and cream on a dark red field. The field is populated by floral and vine patterns throughout in a complementary palette with embellished spandrels. The field is enclosed by a compound border that features a pattern of floral palmettes and vines throughout on a dark blue field. It has an overcast edge and a short fringe to either end. It is marked to the back ‘Handwoven in Iran’.
