A signed hand-pulled wood block artist proof by listed twentieth century Japanese artist Fumio Fujita (b. 1933) titled Around the Pond. The work is presented on traditional washi paper and depicts a somber birch forest in silhouette with a small pond in the foreground. Fujita blends an earthy palette of green, black, blue, ochre, and orange with an Eastern Abstract style to create a harmonious and thoughtful landscape composition. Fujito began creating his first woodblock prints in 1963. This piece from 1964 is a beautiful example of his earliest works. It is signed to the lower right in pencil and hand dated to 1964. Presented in an ivory matte and an acrylic frame.
