A hand-knotted Persian inspired wool area rug. The nearly square rug features a dark espresso field densely populated by stylized flowers set on stems which are incorporated into sinuous arabesques. The designs have been worked in shades of copper, sand, steel gray, ivory, olive, maize, and taupe. The field is surrounded by a wide compound border worked in the same palette, but with pale grounds, flanked by carnation and meander guard borders. The primary border is infilled with herati. White cotton fringe to each end. Unmarked.
