Louis Cardin Original Enamel Painting on Copper

An original enamel on copper painting by reputed French artist Louis Cardin (born 1931). Cardin creates bright scenes of children playing using kiln-fired enamel pigments over copper, often with a loosely splattered surface texture. This scene depicts two children holding hands and a large red balloon as they run through a wooded grove filled with dense foliage and bright wildflowers. The piece is signed and dated to the lower corner. It is presented in a carved wooden frame with gold tone finish, white linen lining, and a sawtooth hanger. A certificate of authenticity from the Collector’s Guild is housed in a pocket to the verso. Cardin was a student of very well-listed French Cubist Andre L’ Hote (1885 – 1962).
