Lacy Glass Shell-form Dish By Sandwich Glass With Peacock Eye Sauce Plates

A lacy glass shell-form dish by the Boston & Sandwich Glass Company with four peacock eye sauce plates. Housed in a dimensional wood frame lined with red velvet, these Sandwich Glass pieces are on display. The colorless lead glass shell-form dish features a peacock eye motif, an open handle, scalloped edges, and an interior rayed pattern. This piece, circa 1830-1840, is pictured in the book American and European Pressed Glass In The Coring Museum of Glass written by Jane Shadel Spillman. Surrounding the shell-form dish are four peacock eye saucer plates featuring a scrolled eye base with a lacy design. The four saucers are pictured in the book Sandwich Glass by Ruth Webb Lee. The wooden frame has a hanging wire to the verso and a latched door for ease of opening the display case.
