An oil painting on canvas titled ’You are Insane This Cannot Exist In My Space_ by listed contemporary artist Clintel Steed (New York, b. 1977). The work depicts a young boy with abstracted features featuring heavily applied paint. Throughout the work raised areas of paint add texture add volume to the composition Titled in marker to the verso directly on the canvas. The work is presented unmounted and without a frame. Two loops have been attached directly to the canvas for hanging.

Clintel Steed grew up in a predominantly African American and Pentecostal community, which is an evident influence to his paintings. His work is a personal dialogue with African American culture, contemporary politics, and the Biblical struggle between good and evil. Stylistically, much of his work is rendered in thick impasto and expressionistic brushstrokes loosely applied throughout his compositions. He acquired his formal artistic training at the Art Institute of Chicago receiving a BFA in 1999 and his MFA from Indiana University in 2001. During his artistic career, he presented his work in multiple locations including the Indiana University Art Museum, New York Studio School and the National Academy of Design, among others.
