An antique Anatolian wool carpet or stair runner. Measuring over seventeen-feet long, this impressive hand-knotted rug features a large central anchor pendant medallion on an indigo field, with florets and geometric elements in a palette of steel blue, burnt orange, pale aqua, cream, deep golden yellow, and brown. A diminutive pair of stylized bird are woven at one end of the field. It has elaborate spandrels, and a wide red primary border of trefoil florets and rondels flanked by guard borders in muted gold and navy. It is made of thick wool fibers with grey weft threads, has double overcast edges and narrow woven kilim skirts to each end. It has natural, undyed wool warp fringe and is unlabeled.
