A gouache and ink painting on paper of an armorial crest. This painting depicts a knight’s helmet in profile, which is surrounded by a mirrored wreath of acanthus leaves surrounding a black shield featuring interlocking snakes. To the top margin is a bear paw, which is complemented to the lower margin with a banister reading ‘Mea Virtute Me Involvo’. The unsigned painting is presented under glass in a gold tone wooden frame.

- moderate wear to surface of frame; tears to paper backing.
