An ornate brass, 19th century Japy Freres & Cie Médaille D’Honneur Napoléon III chiming mantel clock. This piece is crowned with an acanthus leaf and grape urn finial and displays ribbon and scrolling ornamentation with repeated grape and acanthus leaf decorative detailing throughout. The clock face features Roman and Western Arabic numerals and brass hour, minute, and second hands. The brass movement plate is stamped with 6636 64 and the Japy Freres production mark, which features a crowned Médaille D’Honneur dating the clock to 1855. Hammer and gong are visible to the verso of the clock. The winding key is included and labelled Popular Progress Made in England.

Condition
- some tarnish on the inner porthole rims of the windows and the front column; a small surface chip near the IV Roman numeral on the front glass face cover, light scratching on both glass windows.
- clock is untested. Plastic label on the clock with “180” to the lower left margin to the verso.
