Item Details
By Hand
A signed limited edition lithograph on vellum titled L’écuyère by legendary 20th century artist Pablo Picasso (1881-1973). This 1960 print is an example of Picasso’s late career work being a precursor to the Neo-Expressionist movement of the 1970’s. Depicted is a woman on a horse in the center ring of a crowded circus. A clown holding a dressage whip to the left of the horse, next to a patterned podium. The work is signed in graphite by Picasso in the lower right, and hand numbered 40 in an edition of 200. It is presented under glass with a layered black and white custom mat in a black and gold tone wood frame. There is a hanging wire mounted to the verso. The print was removed from frame for authentication purposes. It is included in the Catalogue Raisonné ‘Volumne I: Catalogue of the Printed Graphic Work 1904 – 1967’ by Georges Bloch, figure 999.
