Wooden Frame

A collection of black and white photographs on paper. These five photos depict scenes from operas by Richard Wagner performed at the Richard Wagner Festspielhaus in Bayreuth, Germany. The lot includes scenes from Tristan and Isolde, Götterdämmerung, Tannhäuser, and Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, as well as a photo of the house seating in the theater. A gold tone placard to the lower center of each mat is inscribed with the subject, date, and location of the photos. These pieces are presented behind mats and glass in wood frames with gold tone fillets and wire to the versos for hanging.

Condition

- accretion to glass; worn frame finish; light tearing to paper backing.
