A hand-knotted and carved Chinese carpet runner. This wool rug features an Old Peking-style design in a palette of black, cream, and lavender. It begins with two floral medallions and two floral sprigs over an open black field with floral spandrels. Framing the field are a main border featuring a stylized flower-and-vine meander pattern over cream and an outer guard border in black. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with a short kilim skirt and long cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
