A collection of three antique engravings by Giovanni Vendramini (Italian 1769 – 1839) after paintings by Francis Wheatley RA (English 1747 – 1801) from his series Cries of London. It includes Plate 3 Sweet China Oranges, sweet China, Plate 6 Knives, Scissars, and Razors to Grind, and Plate 2 Milk below Maids. Each print depicts ordinary people engaged in buying and selling goods and services in 18th century London. Each is mounted under glass in a painted wood frame fitted with a ring for hanging.
Condition
- paint on frames deteriorating; foxing and toning throughout prints.
Dimensions
- measurements of one frame; plate size is 11.0" W x 14.0" H; all frames and prints are the same size.
