A vintage sterling silver serving plate by Lester H. Vaughan (1889 – 1951). Round plate features a plain design with monogram ‘VRH’ centered to the front of the plate. ‘L. H. Vaughan Sterling’ stamp and hammer in shield hallmark to the underside. Total approximate weight 16.350 ozt.
Lester Howard Vaughan was primarily an Arts & Crafts pewtersmith, but occasionally created fine pieces in silver, such as this example. He who began his career with Reed & Barton in Taunton, Massachusetts and began his own company in the early 1900s.
Condition
- tarnish, bent rim, scratches and spotting throughout the piece.
