Original Oil on Canvas Portrait of Boy
Item Details
An original oil painting on canvas of a boy. This portrait depicts a young boy in an oversize hat and a broad collared shirt. An inscription on the verso of the canvas appears to read ‘To: John Brown / From: M. Duncan, Dec 25 1928’. The work is presented in a gold tone gesso frame with a hanging wire mounted to the verso.
Condition
- repaired 1" tear to center of boy’s jacket; 2" area of loss to varnish over painting to upper right; gap between canvas and frame at lower right; scratches to edged of canvas at lower right; some chips to edges of frame; wear and cracks to finish of frame. Canvas has been removed from its original stretcher bars and re-stretched.
