Item Details
A hand-knotted medallion area rug, likely from Lebanon, woven with Persian knots. This wool rug features a central medallion with peony pendants on a double lozenge field of burgundy and slate blue with flowers, flanked by cream colored spandrels. Minor unresolved geometric border surrounding a major border in a cypress and floral block design with guard border of daisies. The rug has overcast selvedge edge, ending in a white cotton fringe. This rug has label to reverse, ‘Ali Hussein Maktabi & Co.’
