An etching on silk by Jules Courtin after Ferdinand Roybet, titled The Drinking Song. This print depicts a violinist happily playing a song while a man in a Renaissance era ruffled coat and hat looks onward, clutching at a goblet of wine and jug. The composition is rendered with delicate cross-hatched marks. To the lower margins is an in-plate facsimile signature and in-plate artist signature, which is complemented by a remarque illustration of musical notes and a graphite signature below. The print is presented under glass in a black wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.

Condition

- to poor; toning, dirt and stains throughout print; nicks and scratches around frame; black paint is lifting from the wood; corners of print buckling; paper backing stained, torn and held with tape.
