A vintage French Louis XV bureau plat. This bureau plat or writing desk on carved japanned cabriole legs has a burl walnut apron with a single long drawer decorated with an inset border of two lines of light wood inlay enclosing a band of figured walnut; below a japanned beveled edge encompassing the table top which consists from the outside inward of a border of crossbanded figured walnut against a thick line of light wood inlay which borders the wide burl walnut surround of the writing surface. Unmarked.
