An original gouache painting on paper after an original 1919 oil painting on canvas titled Cafe Bar by very well-listed French artist Georges Braque (1882 – 1963). The painting depicts a Cubist composition made up of abstracted tables, chairs, and musical instruments painted in neutral shades of gray,b lack, white, brown, and green. The piece’s title is painted in decorative black and white text to the piece’s upper edge. It is matted in white and presented behind glass in a wooden frame with black finish and a hanging wire to the verso. The piece is unsigned, but Braque’s name is written to the verso.
Condition
- significant cracking and chipping to paint across surface. Black accretion and scratching across matting. Light scratching to frame.
