A collection of four charcoal drawings by Dame Laura Knight,
DBE, RA, RWS (English, 1877 – 1970). They include a sketch of a woman dancer, an elephant, a circus performer in a handstand while balancing a pole on his feet, and man in a long robe and cap titled Shylock. Each of the unframed drawings is signed Laura Knight to the lower right or left. Laura Knight was an English Impressionist artist who worked in oils, watercolors, engraving and dry point. She was known for landscapes, genre paintings and also painted theatre and circus subjects. She was a war artist during WWII.
Condition
- condition varies; smaller drawings are somewhat discolored; foxing to two drawings; wear and minor tears to edges of some pages; some smudges due to medium.
