Ink Wash
An original signed ink wash drawing on paper by very well-listed American illustrator Sam Norkin (New York, 1917 – 2011), best-known for his theater sketches. This piece is titled USSR: Kiev – Landscape + Garden Artists Fashioning Lenin in Flowerbed. As the title describes, the piece depicts a gestural monochromatic sketch of gardeners on scaffolding creating an image of Vladimir Lenin’s bearded face in a garden bed. The work is signed to the lower right and titled to the verso of the matting. It is numbered ‘31’ in graphite to the lower right below the piece’s matting. It is matted in white and presented without framing, awaiting your choice of presentation. Norkin had thousands of illustrations published in the New York Daily News, New York Herald Tribune, Boston Globe, Washington Post, and countless other publications.
