A pastel and watercolor drawing on paper of lines by listed artist Nicholas Barbieri (American; 1942-2013) created in 1982. The work depicts colored gestural lines of gold, red, and purple with some shading and blending. Signed to the bottom in graphite. The work is presented under glass in a wooden frame.
Nicholas Barbieri is best known for his use of repetitive circular motions in his abstract expressionist style paintings. He received his BFA with honors from Pratt Institute and continued his art education with an MFA at Lehman College. Barbieri’s exploration of the visual relationships and effects of light on form, structure, and space have evolved over his four-decade career. He has participated in many solo and group exhibitions and has his work in many private collections including the Clock Tower Gallery, Empire State Building-5th Avenue Gallery, Hundred Acres Gallery, and in The Hudson River Museum.
