Hand-Knotted Turkish Silk Prayer Rug

Item Details

A very finely hand-knotted Turkish silk prayer rug featuring a multi-paneled field of mirhab elements, each containing an image of a chandelier and a vase with decorative columns, in softened tones of ivory, salmon, tan, blue and green. It has a wide primary border with an ecru ground, having a dense Kufic-style script pattern in scarlet red. The Kufic border is flanked on either side by a small, delicate floral meander guard border in the field colors, and the rug has double overcast edges with dense warp fringe to each end. It has an exporter’s label to the reverse.
