Frederick Remington "The Mountain Man"
Item Details
A reproduction bronze sculpture after Frederic Remington (1861 – 1909), titled Mountain Man, measuring a tall 29’, mounted on a black marble base. This reproduction masterpiece is inscribed “Copyright by Frederic Remington” to lower base. Mountain Man was Remington’s 9th bronze and was completed in 1903. It’s subject is of an old Iroquois trapper and horse descending a steep hill and their motion is suspended in mid-stride. This statue is reproduced in solid bronze, cast in a brown patina and then hand-rubbed to bring out detail and highlights. The statue is then mounted on a fine marble base with an etched brass plate. The incredible detail of this sculpture is a Remington hallmark.
