Large Vintage Handwoven Turkish Area Rug

A large, vintage Turkish area rug. This wool rug is handwoven in a palette of camel, saffron, and rust. It features an allover, loose lattice incorporating geometric linework, starbursts in gray-sage, and partial scrolls over a camel-colored field. The field is framed by six borders including a wide primary border grounded in a rich rust color and filled with curvilinear meandering palmettes, vines, small flowers, and leaves. Minor borders feature meandering-carnation and scrolling patterns over saffron and ecru. Selvedges are double overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
