A pair of Japanese Meiji period hand painted vellum trinket boxes, late 19th century. The boxes with lids are constructed of wood covered in vellum and hand painted with domestic scenes with figures. Both boxes boast brass hardware, including engraved medallion latches and handles. The large box features a painted blue interior. Unmarked.
