Collection of Royal Doulton Dickens Ware
Item Details
A collection of Royal Doulton decorative porcelain items. This grouping includes three trinket trays, a pair of candle holders and a toothpick holder; with five of the pieces being Dickens Ware. The Dickens Ware is decorated with transfer artwork based on the work of author Charles Dickens. Included are a pair of candlesticks featuring The Artful Dodger and _Fagin.’ Each is marked to the underside with Royal Doulton stamps and production numbers, with the Fagin piece having three impressed marks and a number appearing to read ‘D30LO x.’. The toothpick holder features an image of The Artful Dodger and is marked ‘D5175’ and ‘7108’ with an artist’s mark. One tray has the Royal Doulton mark with Sairey Gamp and ‘D. 6327’. A second tray features Cap’n Cuttle, maker’s stamp, and artist’s and production marks. A third tray features Dikc Turpin at Bootham Bar, York with an Australian mark from the ‘Historic England’ series, ‘D3940, Regd in Australia’ and ‘A’ with the lion passant marks and ‘8099’, dating it to circa 1895, with an artist’s mark.
Condition
- various degrees of crazing, marks and discoloration present throughout the pieces.
