Eastlake Period Sewing Box Footstool

An Eastlake period sewing box footstool. This antique sewing box, or knitting caddy, features a solid wood base in the Eastlake style. The hinged top opens to reveal a single storage compartment. A sticker to the underside reads “No. 456 Novelty Manufacturing Company, Syracuse, New York”. The original upholstered top is missing; the original hand-forged nails and tacks are included.

- to good for age. Missing upholstered top; areas of loss to the original finish, craquelure; crack to one side of the apron.
