Facsimile Oil Painting on Canvas After Michael Ancher
Item Details
An oil painting on canvas of a fisherman after a similar painting by Danish artist Michael Peter Ancher (1849-1927). This painting depicts a bearded man posed in profile, who stares pensively while wearing a dark fisherman’s coat and holding a wood pipe to his lips. He poses before a gloomy, cloudy background. To the lower left corner of the composition is an illegible painted artist signature. The painting is presented in a gold tone wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- craquelure to painting; light wear to frame finish; lines on canvas along inner edges of stretcher; canvas is somewhat loose in frame; discoloration to canvas verso.
