A pair of watercolor paintings on paper of Mamaroneck cityscapes by listed American artist Grace Huntley Pugh (1912-2010). Portrayed with loose brushstrokes and sketchy black delineations, each work features a view of Mamaroneck on the river populated with boats, town buildings, people fishing, and people wandering along the banks. Both works are signed to the lower right; ‘Mamaroneck’ is also handwritten on each work. Additional handwriting is present to the verso of each work. They are not matted and remain unframed.

Grace Huntley Pugh was a member of the American Watercolor Society. She graduated from Barnard College and attended the National Academy of Design Art School, the Art Students League, and the Parsons School of Design. She was also the founding president of the Mamaroneck Artists Guild and is mostly known for her paintings of Mamaroneck Harbor.

Condition

- wear along paper edges including small tears, bending, wrinkling, curling, and small holes; minor stains near edges of paintings; tape remnants to versos.
