An oil painting on canvas of a street market by listed, American artist Dennis Ainsley (1880-1952). This painting depicts a bustling street market dappled in early morning sunlight rendered with soft hues in an impressionistic style. It is signed in paint to the lower left corner and to the verso. Partial artist biography and copyright stamp to the verso. This painting is presented in a gilt gesso and wood beveled frame without glass; fitted with hanging wire to the verso.

Dennis Ainsley was originally born in Illinois to Irish and French parents, and spent a large portion of his life living in Europe. He studied art all over, including Paris, and is known for his street and market scenes, presumably influenced by his upbringing in Europe. Ainsley eventually moved back to the United States in 1920 settling in New England to exhibit his work while still keeping ties to Europe until his death in 1952.
