A hand-knotted Aubusson-style area rug. This wool-pile rug is rendered in the style of a French classic needlepoint in a palette of crimson, burgundy, cream, apricot, shades of pink, and sage. It begins with a large oval medallion grounded in cream, framed in acanthus leaves, and featuring a bouquet of flowers at its center. The medallion rests on an inner field of crimson, framed by a squared cartouche device and surrounded by a riot of flowers over burgundy. Edges are folded over and sewn. No manufacturers labels are present.
